AnythingIT Inc. (OTC: ANYI), a leading IT recycler serving OEMs, resellers, government, and enterprise clients, recently announced the launch of WeedHire.com targeting the burgeoning cannabis industry. In connection with the launch, the company is offering free job postings for employers within the cannabis industry for the first 90 days following May 29, 2014.

“WeedHire.com is committed to connecting legal marijuana businesses with qualified job candidates,” said AnythingIT COO Vlad Stelmak. “We will continue to build off this initial site launch to develop WeedHire.com with meaningful tools to help both businesses grow and enhance career placement/development opportunities within the legal marijuana industry.”

Currently, the website has attracted 111 job postings and six resumes since its official launch earlier this week. The company plans to generate revenue by eventually charging for job postings and other specialized features like access to its resume database, banner advertising, or priority listings. Jobseekers are able to use the website for free to find and apply for jobs within the cannabis industry.

In March, O.penVAPE held Colorado’s first cannabis job fair that attracted over 1,200 job candidates that applied for various positions. The leading manufacturer of vaporizers organized the job fair in response to their troubles in finding enough candidates to fill two of its own job openings. Over 15 companies attended the event in hopes of identifying qualified candidates to fill jobs.

These difficulties in attracting qualified job candidates could translate to a significant opportunity for AnythingIT’s WeedHire.com. With the U.S. cannabis industry expected to reach $20 billion by 2019, the industry will require extensive employment solutions to identify and hire talent. Industry-specific portals like WeedHire.com could fill a key void in the marketplace for these services.

Shares of AnythingIT jumped more than 17% in early trading on Friday morning.
