BreedIT Corp. (BRDT), the exclusive worldwide license holder and distributor of highly sophisticated agro-breeding solutions software for plant breeders and researchers, recently added two leading Israeli agronomists to its team. Hadas Nahum became VP of Marketing & Sales and Neti Ziv became Project Manager of its Cannabis Breeding business that has become a big focus.

“Mrs. Nahum will focus her efforts on communicating the advantages of [sic] iBreedIT® technology, research support, and [expertise] to potential customers,” said BreedIT Corp. CEO Dr. Oded Sagee. “As Project Manager, Mrs. Ziv will be occupied with our cannabis breeding program and working together with Sheifa Le’Haim, our growing partner, to oversee the program that will employ iBreedIT® software to breed and eventually own unique and hybrid cannabis seeds.”
Hadas Nahum has over 10 years of experience in the industry and joins the company after having worked with Avogen Inc. (EVGN) between 2006 and 2009, where she specialized in the marketing of sophisticated agricultural products. Prior to Avogen, she was involved in research and development activities related to improving the disease resistance of plants.
Neti Ziv also has significant industry experience working as a senior breeder for Avogen between 2007 and 2012. With a focus on biofuel breeding, she prepared a multi-year breeding and helped with the practical implementation of that plan. Prior to that, she worked for Hazera Genetics as a breeder in their watermelon department between 2004 and 2007.
According to Markets and Markets, the global seed industry is expected to grow from $44.12 billion in 2012 to $85.24 billion by 2018, representing a compound annual growth rate (“CAGR”) of 12.1%. North America led the global market, followed by Europe and Asia-Pacific in terms of 2012 revenue. Cannabis seeds could represent a growing segment within this market given their legalization.
Shares of BreedIT were trading down about 4% in early trading on Monday morning, while trading up more than 150% so far this year.
