CannLabs Inc. [stockquote symbol=CANL], a leading provider of proprietary cloud based analytics and scientific testing methodologies relating to cannabis, was recently quoted in a USA Today story covering the NFL’s limits on marijuana. In the article, CannLabs Founder and President Genifer Murray and VP of Marketing Robert Farrell were both quoted saying the NFL’s restrictions go too far.
“My God, these athletes are allowed to take Vicodin and Percocet and they’re not allowed to have more than 35 nanograms of marijuana,” said CannLabs Founder and President Genifer Murray in the article. “You kind of have to look at it like that. Marijuana obviously is less harmful and has a different titration than taking pills – and those pills are synthetic, where this is a natural plant.”
CannLabs VP of Marketing also stated in the article that the NFL’s marijuana testing policy is “based on society’s moral judgment of what a player should be off the field and less on the science and the medicinal. We have 80 years of reefer madness that has colored and tainted our perception of a medicine.”
Many former players insist that as many as half of NFL players use marijuana, adding that it provides pain relief, stress relief, and quicker healing times. Whereas many pain medications disconnected sensation with the body, marijuana would actually increase awareness and enable players to engage in yoga or other mindfulness exercises to reduce pain and stress levels.
CannLabs provides proprietary cloud-based analytics and scientific methods to cannabis laboratories in order to ensure best practices and product advancements. In addition, the company’s website enables consumers to easily locate certified tested products to meet their specific needs, while educating the public and governments about the many medical uses of cannabis.
