Earth Science Tech Inc. (OTC: ETST), a biotechnology company focused on nutraceuticals, bioceuticals and dietary supplements, recently announced that its CBD-rich hemp oil was capable of stimulating and enhancing tumor necrosis factor alpha (“TNFα”) production by macrophages. Through its sponsored research agreement with the University of Oklahoma, the company has been investigating the impact of CBD on immune cells.

The cytokine TNFα is a key cell signaler in the recruitment of immune cells, which the body produces to combat diseases like cancer. In fact, the field of cancer immunotherapy is focused largely on developing cancer treatments that boost the body’s own immune system in the fight against cancer, rather than using harmful radiation and chemotherapy approaches that are actually highly toxic to the human body over time.

“ETST is focused on researching and developing innovative hemp extracts and to make them accessible for consumers worldwide in order to help with overall health and wellness,” said Earth Science Tech Inc. CEO Dr. Harvey Katz in a recent press release announcing the new findings. “We are thrilled with this new study and our positive test results. It demonstrates that our CBD Rich Hemp Oil may help enhance the immune system.”

Dr. Wei Chen’s team at the University of Oklahoma believes that the effects of hemp oil enriched with CBD on immune cells may be used to improve cancer treatment, particularly in combination with other treatment modalities. In collaboration with Dr. Chen, the company plans continued studies to determine the effects of hemp oil with CBD on inducing and enhancing anti-tumor immune responses, as these early studies have suggested is the case.

In addition to studying the effects of its CBD-enhanced hemp oil, the company continues to seek strategic partnerships and other agreements to commercialize its hemp oil. Management believes that its product is unique given the high concentration of CBDs and the fact that the oil is derived from hemp, which means that it’s completely legal to sell within the United States, unlike many other forms of CBDs derived from sources like marijuana.

Shares of Earth Science Tech Inc. were trading even in early hours on Monday, January 26, 2015 following the news release.
