MONTEVIDEO, Uruguay (AP) Uruguay’s president is set to sign a law creating the country’s legal marijuana market.
Jose Mujica is expected to sign the measure Monday, making Uruguay the first country in the world to create a nationwide market regulating the cultivation, sale and use of legal marijuana.
Registered users should be able to buy marijuana in pharmacies and grow as many as six plants per family.
They can also harvest 480 grams (17 ounces) a year at home, or join cultivation clubs that can have as many as 45 members and 99 plants.
